to make bookcloth

I got my last sheet of kitakata at the utrecht store in Chicago, and one of the employees gave me my original instructions. (http://www.utrechtart.com/) The website doesn't seem to sell individual sheets. Ow.

1. Stretch the fabric all around/ all 4 sides.

2. Wash with pva. Do not use the pva at full strength for this.*

2a. (my addition) Let the first wash dry and then wash again, then go on to step 3.

3. Lay Kitikata over it and wash again.

4. Let dry overnight

*A wash is usually made by adding water to the pva, but I've been using some that I put more Methyl Cellulose in than usual, and it seems to work fine. The glue for this needs to be very watery so that it permeates the cloth and holds onto the paper.

I got my pva and Methyl Cellulose at the River Forest, Il. Papersource (http://www.paper-source.com). Beware of their size listing for the MC. It said 12 oz, so I overfilled and got it very thin. To be fair, I really like the very thin MC and combination, but still.
